José Cil

José Cil currently serves as a Director on the Board of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. José is also on the Board of Directors of Restaurant Brands Iberia – one of the largest restaurant companies in Europe – owned by private equity firm Cinven.

José spent most of his career with Burger King and Restaurant Brands International (RBI). RBI was founded in 2014 with the merger of Burger King and Tim Hortons. Today, RBI is the owner of four of the most iconic and loved restaurant brands in the world – Burger King, Tim Hortons, Popeyes and Firehouse Subs – and is one of the largest restaurant companies in the world.

José served as CEO of RBI from January 2019 to March 2023, and previously as global president of Burger King. In José’s last full year as CEO, RBI generated nearly $40 billion in system-wide sales in its over 30,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries.

In 2021, José was awarded Restaurant Leader of the Year by Restaurant Business Magazine. In addition, South Florida Business Journal named him a 2021 South Florida Ultimate CEO honoree. José was also one of the CEOs featured in the book Unprecedented: Canada’s Top CEOs on Leadership During COVID-19.
