Er ist promivierter Arzt und Tierarzt, Fachtierarzt f\u00fcr Fortpflanzung und Fachtierarzt f\u00fcr das \u00f6ffentliche Veterin\u00e4rwesen. Nach wissenschaftlicher T\u00e4tigkeit und Assistenzzeit folgen Aufgaben auf verschiedenen Ebenen der bayerischen Veterin\u00e4r- und Gesundheitsverwaltung, u.a. im Sozial-, Umwelt und Verbraucherministerium, 6 Jahre bei der EU in Br\u00fcssel, als Vizepr\u00e4sident des Landesamtes f\u00fcr Gesundheit und Lebensmittelsicherheit sowie zuletzt als Pr\u00e4sident des Landesamtes f\u00fcr Pflege.
